H5N1, Bird flu

Vietnam has new human bird flu suspect. Yikes, there are already more than 40 deaths in Vietnam alone; 1 @ Hong Kong; 4 @ Indonesia; 4 @ Cambodia; 13 @ Thailand; and guess what? NONE in Malaysia!! Is that possible? Either we are really lucky or ....

As of November 1, 2005, 122 cases of human infection, resulting in 62 deaths, have been confirmed outside of China (see Human cases). Thirteen countries across Asia and Europe have been affected. Additionally, more than 120 million birds have died from infection or been culled.

Symptoms
Since H5N1 is an influenza virus, symptoms similar to those of the common flu, such as fever, cough, sore throat, and sore muscles, can develop in infected humans. However, in more severe cases, pneumonia and respiratory failure can develop and eventually cause death. Patients with H5N1 avian influenza have rarely had conjunctivitis[3], unlike human cases of infection by the H7 virus.

My little man is having Flu, cough, don't know about sore throat or muscles, but no fever. So are we safe? I'm starting to develop a sore throat now too and have been sneezing... Argh.. Panic, panic!.. Sigh..
